Although small business owners may be starting from the bottom post-Covid, the way they market their company can help their business skyrocket as if they never faced any difficulties at all. While small businesses are generally working with a lower budget for branding, it’s best to look for strategies that cost less and don’t require as many resources. A marketing tip that I often suggest is creating a free Google My Business account which allows your business to show up on the local section of a Google search, as well as show up on Google Maps. Another marketing strategy I stress for growing your small business is branding yourself on social media and LinkedIn. It is important to always engage in other posts as well so that you are showing up on people’s feeds who may have never heard of you, rather than only engaging on your own account with the people that already follow you. The go-to strategy for any small business is to create an email marketing plan where you can create catchy subject lines and send out weekly information regarding your business.

Great advice from James Burati!

Small businesses can use a variety of marketing strategies to promote their company despite a limited budget. One strategy that has proven effective for small business owners is creating a free Google My Business account which allows your business to show up on the local section of a Google search, as well as show up on Google Maps. This will allow potential customers to find you more easily online and in person. Another strategy is branding yourself on social media and LinkedIn, engaging with other posts so people who may not have heard about you yet are exposed to your brand’s content rather than only interacting with those who already follow you (or interact with your posts). As any small business owner knows, email marketing is an excellent way to stay top-of-mind while providing new information weekly or monthly.

Although Covid affects business owners of all sizes, I find small businesses are affected the most because they don’t have access to the same resources as larger companies. Marketing is never easy and it will always be an uphill battle, but there are strategies that you can use to help promote your business despite any adverse effects of Covid.
