We use the information we collect to:

3. Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience and analyze site traffic. These include:

• Google Analytics 4 cookies (property G-16KYJVW780) that measure how visitors use our site
• Cookies set by our live chat widget so a conversation can continue as you move between pages
• Cookies set by our bot protection tool so it can tell people apart from automated traffic

Our analytics is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google. It loads from googletagmanager.com as soon as the page finishes loading, on the caltechweb.com address only. Google receives your IP address, which it uses to estimate your general location, along with your browser and device, the pages you visit, and actions such as submitting a form. We use it to see which pages are useful and where our visitors come from. We do not send your name, email address, or phone number to Google Analytics. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.

You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

4. Forms You Submit on This Site

Every form on this site, including the contact form, the quote forms, and the free website report card, sends what you type to forms.caltechweb.com, a form handling service CalTech Web runs for our own site and for our clients' sites. What you enter leaves the page you are on and is processed there. That usually includes:

• Your name, email address, and phone number if you provide it
• Your business name and website address if you provide it
• The message or project details you type
• Which page and form the submission came from

From there the submission is emailed to us through Resend, our email delivery provider, so it lands in our inbox. Resend processes the contents of your submission in order to deliver it. We use what you send only to answer you and to follow up about the work you asked about.

If you run our free website report card, we also receive the website address you enter, and we load that page publicly to score it.

5. Bot Protection on Our Forms

Every page on this site loads Cloudflare Turnstile from challenges.cloudflare.com, and the bot check itself runs on the pages that carry a form. Turnstile is a check that decides whether a visitor is a real person without making you solve a picture puzzle. To make that decision, Cloudflare receives your IP address, signals about your browser and device, and how you interact with the page, then hands back a pass or fail token that we send along with your form. We use it for one reason: to keep spam and automated submissions out of our inbox. Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy.

6. Live Chat and Scheduling

Zendesk. Our live chat widget loads on every page of this site from static.zdassets.com. Zendesk is the support platform we use to answer questions and track support requests. Because the widget loads on every page, Zendesk can see your IP address, your browser and device, and the pages you are viewing, and it sets its own cookies so a chat can continue as you move around the site. If you start a chat, what you type and any name or email address you give us are stored in our Zendesk account so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

Calendly. When you book a call with us, you are sent to Calendly, the scheduling service we use. Calendly collects the name, email address, and any details you enter on its booking page, along with your time zone and the time you pick, and passes the appointment to us. We use it only to schedule, confirm, and remind you about the meeting.

7. Third-Party Services

Here is the full list of outside services that receive visitor or client data through this website, and what each one is for:

• Google Analytics 4 for website traffic measurement
• Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection on our forms
• Resend for delivering form submissions and email to us
• Zendesk for live chat and support requests
• Calendly for scheduling calls
• Stripe for payment processing
• Vercel, which hosts this website and receives the address and page of every request

Each of these companies has its own privacy policy and handles data according to its own terms. We share information with them only so they can do the job listed above. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

• SSL encryption on all pages of our website
• Secure payment processing through Stripe
• Regular backups of all client website data
• Restricted access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
