Accessibility statement
We want every visitor to be able to use this site and every site we build. Here is what we do about it, and how to tell us when we fall short.
Last updated: August 20, 2026
CalTech Web is committed to making caltechweb.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, rely on captions, or need larger text and higher contrast.
1. The standard we aim for
We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is also what the Americans with Disabilities Act is generally measured against in the United States. We treat it as the baseline for this site and for the client sites we build, not as an optional extra.
2. What we check
Every page on this site is checked automatically against a fixed set of assertions, in a real browser, at phone, tablet, and desktop widths. Among other things we verify:
- Body text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and large text meets 3:1
- Every page offers a skip-to-content link as its first focusable element
- Headings follow a logical order without skipping levels
- Every form input has a label a screen reader can announce
- The mobile menu can be opened, operated, and closed by keyboard
- Focus stays inside the mobile menu while it is open
- Interactive targets are large enough to hit reliably on a phone
- Every image carries meaningful alternative text
- Animation is suppressed for visitors who ask for reduced motion
3. Known limitations
We would rather name the gaps than claim we have none. Two parts of this site are supplied by third parties, and we do not control their markup:
- The Zendesk support widget and the Calendly scheduling embed render their own interfaces. If either blocks you, use the phone number or email address below and we will help you directly.
- The Cloudflare Turnstile check on our contact forms is a third-party control. It offers an accessible fallback, and if it prevents you from reaching us, call or email instead.
4. Telling us about a barrier
If any part of this site is hard to use, we want to hear about it. Tell us the page address and what went wrong, and include the browser and any assistive technology you were using if you know them. We aim to reply within one business day and to fix genuine barriers as a priority rather than queueing them behind feature work.

5. Enforcement
If you contact us about an accessibility barrier and are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, which enforces the Americans with Disabilities Act.
