The Challenge

California Women for Agriculture has been advocating for California's agricultural industry since 1975 — a legacy spanning five decades that should communicate authority and stability in every public-facing context. Their previous website didn't reflect that standing. It underrepresented the organization's history, obscured the scope of their statewide chapter network, and made it difficult for members to find the resources and event information they were looking for.

The organization operates chapters across California, each with its own leadership, local events, and community activity. Presenting a statewide network in a way that feels organized and accessible — rather than overwhelming — required careful information architecture that the previous site hadn't solved.

Member communication was scattered across email chains, a Facebook group, and an outdated news section, creating confusion about upcoming events, scholarship deadlines, and advocacy updates. The website needed to become the authoritative source of record for all of that information, replacing the fragmented multi-channel approach with a single organized hub.

The Solution

We built a professional advocacy site with the organization's 50-year history given prominent, deliberate placement. The legacy content anchors a sense of authority and institutional credibility that newer agricultural advocacy organizations simply can't replicate — and it should be front and center, not buried in an 'About' dropdown.

A chapter directory was built with individual pages for each regional chapter, complete with local leadership listings, contact information, and chapter-specific upcoming events. Members in Fresno or Salinas or Redding could navigate directly to their chapter's page without wading through statewide content that didn't apply to their local situation.

A centralized news and advocacy updates section was established as the single source of truth for member communications. Scholarship program pages were built with clear application timelines, eligibility requirements, and downloadable applications — the most accessed pages for the agricultural community members CWA serves across California's college-age farm families.

Statewide Agricultural Advocacy Organizations Need Audience-Specific Navigation

An organization like California Women for Agriculture serves constituencies at fundamentally different scales simultaneously: a first-generation farmer in Tulare County looking for scholarship information has different navigation needs than a chapter leader in Ventura organizing a local event, or a policymaker looking for the organization's position on water rights legislation. A website that tries to serve all three audiences through a single undifferentiated navigation structure fails all three. CWA's site was built with navigation paths designed around each audience's most common entry point and destination — reducing the distance between landing on the site and finding what's actually needed, regardless of which audience you belong to.

CalTech Web gave our organization a professional online home that our members love. The event registration and chapter pages have made it so much easier to stay connected across the state.
