The Challenge

Specialized Plastic Surgery operates in a market where patients conduct extensive online research before committing to a single consultation. A prospective patient interested in a body contouring procedure might visit a dozen practice websites before reaching out to anyone. In that environment, a generic or template-looking site immediately reduces a practice's perceived standing relative to competitors who present with more depth and professionalism.

The practice's existing site didn't communicate the full range of their capabilities. Procedure pages lacked the specificity that patients search for — information about candidacy, surgical approach, recovery expectations, and realistic outcomes. Visitors who couldn't find answers to their specific questions left without contacting the practice.

Before/after photos are the single most important conversion element for a plastic surgery practice, but the previous site buried the gallery and presented results without procedure-specific filtering. A patient researching breast augmentation didn't want to scroll through rhinoplasty and liposuction results to find relevant examples of the outcome they were considering.

The Solution

We rebuilt the site with a procedure-first architecture. Each major category — body, face, breast, and non-surgical treatments — received its own landing page with detailed information covering candidacy criteria, the surgical process, recovery timeline, and realistic outcome expectations written at a level that informs without being clinical.

The before/after gallery was rebuilt with procedure-specific filtering so that a patient researching any given procedure sees only that procedure's results. This relevance dramatically increases the gallery's conversion impact by making it easy for a prospective patient to see cases that match their own situation and desired outcome.

Trust signals — surgeon credentials, board certifications, accreditation, financing options — were surfaced prominently throughout the site rather than buried in a single 'About' page. A consultation request form was placed on every procedure page, reducing the clicks between 'interested visitor' and 'submitted inquiry' to the minimum necessary.

Gallery Organization Is the Highest-Leverage Design Decision for Plastic Surgery Practices

Patients evaluating a plastic surgery practice spend more time in the before/after gallery than anywhere else on the site. How that gallery is organized determines whether a visit to the gallery increases or decreases a patient's confidence. An unfiltered gallery — where rhinoplasty results, breast procedures, body contouring, and facial rejuvenation are all presented together — forces the patient to search for relevant results rather than immediately seeing them. That search friction creates doubt. A gallery filtered by procedure, with enough cases in each category to establish volume and consistency, tells a different story: this practice does this procedure often, does it well, and is willing to show the results. For Specialized Plastic Surgery, reorganizing the gallery by procedure type was the single change with the highest impact on consultation inquiry volume.

CalTech Web built us a site that looks like we paid thousands for it. The before/after gallery and procedure pages have been great for converting visitors into consultations.
